I must point out that our history is tainted for how we have treated our disabled people, particularly those like me. Generations have come and gone without being understood and hence live a life of dignity and peace. Life devoid of basic tenets of humanity is one not lived at all and yet this was the reality of many like, for many years.
The tide is changing as new and different voices emerge directly from our village. Lots of questions are being asked and some are being answered correctly for the first time ever. Lots of messages make their way through without being lost in translation. Like minded friends and allies are joining hearts and minds to form movements that can no longer be ignored. Skeptics that were on the fence are jumping to our side before our beliefs and actions break the fence and everyone is engulfed by our love for they will finally only see that.
I really dream that history is on our side and it will be if we continue to write it.
