One of the challenges I have is with making loud noises with my mouth, that almost feels like braying. It is mostly my way of clearing my lungs, and likely more frequent when I am sick. It makes breathing easier. It can be extremely uncomfortable to be around.

Lot of times, it is most severe at night. And it is continuous.Listening to music helps sometimes. It helps reset my breathing rhythm. Most likely because I imagine singing along and that breaks the pattern. It has to be a song I know but not anything in particular.

There are important reasons for some of these vocal stims and other times they might just be verbal motor loops, like other motor loops previously discussed. Verbal motor loops are mostly known phrases or songs that are repeated without context. They are more easily identifiable than some of the sounds discussed earlier.

All of this can be particularly testing for caregivers and needs a lot of patience and understanding and methods to work around the madness.
